Besides pursuing our main objective of spiritual awakening and
inner growth, we are ever trying to build up a progressive and beautiful
institution for thousands of young people who come here for their education. We
have been running several projects towards this end. You can support the cause
and collaborate in many different ways:
* Donate money, tax deductible
under section 80 G of the Income Tax Act.
* Subscribe to the quarterly
magazines, “The Call Beyond” (English) and “Sri Arvind
Karmadhara” (Hindi) and enlist more subscribers.
* Advertise in our magazines
and souvenirs and procure advertisements for them.
* Sponsor the education of a
poor child fully or partly through the Sri Aurobindo
Education Society.

* Donate good books to our
schools and the Ashram library.
* Donate children’s outgrown
clothes and books,games and toys which we send to village schools for poor children. You can
also give used men’s and women’s clothes.
* Participate in the daily ½ -
hour Satsang (7 - 7.30 p.m.), Sunday Satsang (10 - 11.15 a.m.) and special day programs.
* Offer your services
for Ashram activities. Voluntary service has an important role in the organization
and development of the Ashram. Orientation programs are held from time to time
for new volunteers.

SPONSORSHIPS FOR NEEDY CHILDREN
We have at present in our
sponsorship scheme over 150 children being educated in various schools all over
the country. This is in addition to the scholarships that are granted to the
day scholars in The Mother’s International Mirambika, Matri Karuna Vidyalaya,
etc. The sponsored children are taken specifically from low income groups and
as far as possible their education is in good village boarding schools in their
own state so that they have no language problems, and the entire expense for
their tuition, boarding, lodging, training, books, clothes, travel expenses,
etc. is paid by the Sri Aurobindo Ashram-Delhi Branch.
We also run two free Schools
for the economically deprived families-one at Delhi called Matri Karuna Vidyalaya
upto class V for 150 Children. The other at Kechla, a remote tribal area in
Orissa, called Auromira Vidya Mandir
upto class V with 100 Children.
We have also adopted a few
schools in villages, adivasi and backward areas. The schools are provided with
books, clothing games,sports equipment and whatever else we can give from time
to time. For instance, every year on Diwali the children of Delhi schools donate clothes, which
are in good condition but which they have outgrown, for distribution to the
poor children. We are generally able to collect more than 50000 clothes annually
besides books toys and games which are gradually distributed amongst poor
people and the village schools adopted by us.
There are more than 400 Sri
Aurobindo Schools all over the country. Most of these schools are run by Sri
Aurobindo devotees independently. 90% of these schools are in tribal, village
or backward areas. Sri Aurobindo Ashram-Delhi Branch provides free training to
many teachers from these schools in addition to free board and lodging for
three years. Under our scheme of National Integration these children also
attend camps in Delhi and Nainital & Kechla,
all expenses paid.
We are always on the lookout
for sponsors as we maintain a waiting list of children who need to be sent to
boarding schools. We greatly appreciate the support of generous people who come
forward for this good cause. We expect approximately Rs. 18000/- a year to
cover all expenses, which may be shared by more than one Sponsor.
We would be grateful if you would sponsor the education of one child by donating Rs. 18,000/- a year. You will grow richer with
the joy of giving and will be showered with the blessings of the people you
help.
Lesser amounts are also
welcome in our corpus fund.
Demand drafts may be drawn in
favour of “Sri Aurobindo
Ashram – Delhi Branch”, payable at New Delhi. Donations are exempt under section 80G of the income
tax act.
