Himalayan Centres
1. Van Niwas in Uttarakhand is the Himalayan Centre of Sri Aurobindo Ashram-Delhi
Branch. It is an idyllic hilltop retreat at an altitude of 2,200 m. It has a
picturesque sylvan setting, with serenity and green delight of the forest and
bracing, pollution-free, cool mountain air far above the dust and din of the
town life. The surroundings induce a spirit of calm and peace. It is an ideal
place for contemplation—more so after the enshrinement of Sri Aurobindo’s sacred Relics in 1989 on 29th May, the date
commemorating the arrival at Nainital of Sri Aurobindo in 1901 for a month’s stay. The premises can
accommodate over 200 people. Camps are organised here
during summer and autumn. There are several meditation halls and a
library-reading room.
2. Madhuban : Sadasukh and Madhuban are orchards located in Talla
Ramgarh, Dist. Nainital.
They are also ideally serene places for doing Sadhana.
Several Study and National Integration Camps are being held here every year.
Frequent FREE medico-social camps are also conducted in this remote region for
the needy.
3. Mountain Paradise : 40 kms from Nainital and at an altitude of 1,700 mtrs.,
Mountain Paradise, the Ashram’s fruit orchard, grows apples, apricots, peaches,
plums, etc. The surroundings are beautiful and one can have stunning views of
the snow-clad peaks from nearby vantage points.
Owned by Sri Aurobindo Ashram, Pondicherry, Mountain Paradise
is presently managed by Sri Aurobindo Ashram-Delhi Branch.
